Bases

Bases

Inorganic bases include sodium hydroxide NaOH, potassium hydroxide KOH, and most metal hydroxides used in the laboratory and commerce such as lithium, magnesium, calcium, and aluminum hydroxides. Organic bases include ammonia in premade solutions as well as ethanolamines and basic solvents in Technical, ACS Reagent and high-purity grades for the electronics industries.

In chemistry, a base is a substance that can accept hydrogen ions in water and can neutralize an acid. Bases feel soapy or slippery on the skin and they can turn certain dyes blue. An example of a base is sodium hydroxide.
