General description
Heptane (n-Heptane) is a linear hydrocarbon. Its cetane number has been reported to be 56.

Application
Greener alternatives to Hexane in HPLC.

Heptane (n-heptane) may be used to compose the solvent mixtures for the purification of N-acylpyrrolidine derivatives of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) by TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography).

General description1-Propanol is a linear alcohol. It exhibits Debye-type relaxation process which resembles the α-relaxation and Johari-Goldstein type β-relaxation features of the supercooled liquids (nonhydrogen-bonding type). It has been tested as a substitute of the fuel for various fuel cells. Its biosynthesis from glucose using Escherichia coli strain has been proposed.
Application1-Propanol may be employed as a solvent for the synthesis of mesoporous alumina.

General description1,2-Dichloroethane (ethylene dichloride, DCE) is a solvent. It is one of the degradation by-product released from vinyl chloride manufacturing industries (EDC-tar). Its mutagenic activity has been tested on Salmonella typhimurium TA 1535. Its catalytic degradation over titania/silica (acid catalysts) has been investigated.
Application1,2-Dichloroethane (ethylene dichloride, DCE) has been used for the chemical doping during the fabrication of Cl-doped few-layer WS2 or MoS2 back gate field-effect transistors (FETs). It may be employed as an electron acceptor in the culture medium of Dehalococcoides ethenogenes 195. It may be employed as model compound for chlorinated organics in various studies.
