Bromthymol Blue is a dye used as an indicator in determining pH. It acts as an acid-base indicator as well as a two-color indicator. This reagent presents a yellow tint in acidic solutions, however, is blue in basic solutions. It is commonly used in laboratory reactions as it is classified as a pH sensitive dye.

Thymol Blue, 0.04 Percent (w/v) Aqueous Indicator Solution is a crystalline solid or powder that is used as a pH indicator. It is insoluble in water but it is soluble in alcohol and dilute alkali solutions. It transitions from red to yellow at pH 1.2-2.8 and from yellow to blue at pH 8.0-9.6.
