Lab crucibles are porcelain or metal containers in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures.
- High alumina crucibles are highly refractory for use in reducing and oxidizing atmospheres. Maximum use temperature is 1750°C.
- PTFE crucibles are very smooth and chemically inert. Suitable for cryo work, with a range of -196°C / -321°F up to 280°C / 536°
- Solid Nickel crucibles are for assays with NaOH or Na2O and offer good resistance to alkalis, sea water, damp chlorine and gaseous hydrochloric acids. Withstands temperatures up to 600°C
- Porcelain crucibles are resistant to acids and alkalis (except hydrofluoric acid) and withstand temperatures to 1150°C
