Artesunate is a water-soluble, semi-synthetic derivative of the lactone artemisinin which contains anti-malarial, antiviral, and potential anti-neoplastic activities. It is generally used as the sodium salt for the treatment of malaria. It also serves as a ferroptosis inducer, antineoplastic agent, and an antimalarial.
Artesunate, part of the artemisinin group of drugs, is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin which has been used to treat malaria.
