Nitric Acid, Fuming, 90 Percent, Reagent, ACS is a strong and highly corrosive mineral acid referred to as "strong nitric acid". Primarily used as a reagent, the pure compound is colorless and used for nitration, typically to an organic molecule. It is also used as a strong oxidizing agent due to its corrosive properties. In its fuming form it is not as volatile or as corrosive as the anhydrous form. It is widely used in the explosive industry.
