- Sizes 8 fluid drams (25 mL approx.) and larger are designed from ASTM Specification E1094, Type 2 requirements (also NBS Handbook 44)
- Sizes 4 fluid drams (15 mL), and smaller do not meet ASTM E1094 nor NBS Handbook 44 requirements and therefore may not be used for prescription work in states which adopt these
