Molpure SorbElut™  DNA Extraction Mini Columns (including the collection tubes, 50 per bag) can bind up to 30 µg of plasmid DNA per prep. Columns feature an attached lid and a luer for processing with centrifugation. DNA extraction is an essential step in many molecular biology applications. It allows scientists to detect and identify bacteria and viruses, as well as to study their genetic information. The purification process of DNA extraction is often done using spin columns, which are the most efficient and cost-effective way to obtain high quality DNA samples. Spin columns are easy to use, require minimal equipment, and can be used with a variety of sample types. They also provide high purity DNA samples with minimal contamination. With the help of spin columns, researchers can easily extract and purify DNA from a variety of sources such as plants, animals, bacteria, or viruses.

Molpure's SorbElut™ extraction spin columns provide an innovative solution for isolating genomic or plasmid DNA from various samples. Our mini columns use silica gel membrane micro fiberglass filter membrane bonding chemistries, making them compatible with most commercially available kits for ease of use and versatility in research. The columns feature durable polypropylene construction and a unique silica-based glass microfiber matrix for efficient nucleic acid binding.

To use a SorbElut™ Spin Column, the DNA sample is loaded onto the column in a high salt buffer. The column is then spun down, which causes the DNA to bind to the membrane. The column is then washed with a buffer that contains a lower salt concentration. This washes away any unbound contaminants, such as proteins, salts, and RNA. The DNA is then eluted from the column using a buffer that is free of chaotropic salts. This results in a highly pure DNA sample that is ready for downstream applications, such as PCR.
