Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic produced from chlortetracycline. It has a role as an antibacterial drug, an antiprotozoal drug, an antimicrobial agent, and a protein synthesis inhibitor. Science mechanist studies have proven that tetracyclines may exert benefit in osteoarthritis progression: matrix metalloproteinase inhibition, immunomodulation, and nitric oxide synthase inhibition.

Tetracycline Hydrochloride is the research grade of a drug that is a protein synthesis inhibitor used against a variety of bacterial infections and also used specifically to treat acne and rosacea. Ungraded products supplied by TCI America are generally suitable for common industrial uses or for research purposes but typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use.
