Cefdinir is classified as a semi-synthetic, broad-spectrum cephalosporin and beta-lactam antibiotic that contains bactericidal activity. It serves a significant role within PBPS as it is dependent on the binding to penicillin-binding proteins that are located in the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. It is quite effective against organisms that are resistant to first-line cephalosporin therapy.
