Midori Green is just as sensitive as EtBr and the staining protocol is also very similar. Midori Green binds less aggressively to the DNA molecules, so fewer mutations occur during synthesis. Compared to EtBr, which is known as a strong mutagen, Midori Green causes much fewer mutations in the Ames test.
