Justrite’s Biohazard Waste Cans meet OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 for the segregation of infectious waste. Use them to store contaminated laundry as well as other regulated waste; however, not for the storage of sharps. Sturdy steel cans feature leakproof construction with foot-operated, self-closing lid. Simple, foot pedal operation opens the biohazard waste can cover automatically to safely dispose of hazardous waste. Upon release of the pedal, the cover closes quickly to reduce the risk of contamination. Optional biohazard bag #05901 is held securely around the circumference of the can top.
For quiet environments, SoundGard™ models incorporate a muffling pad inside the lid to lessen disruptive closure noise. This reduces noise by approximately 200% over standard models. Optional label kit #25880 complies with California Health and Safety Code 118280 requiring warning labels to be visible from all sides of the biohazard waste can. Kit includes three labels and instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use poly liner bags in my biohazard waste can?
We encourage the use of liner bags in Justrite Biohazard Waste Cans for safe, temporary collection of biological waste. Red color helps easily identify bags as biohazard. Optional bag #05901 is 11 microns thick, holds approximately 12 gallons and comes in packs of 100.
What is the item number for the poly liner bags recommended to use with Justrite Biohazard Waste Cans?
Our biohazard waste can uses the biohazard liner bag #05901. Bags must be ordered separately.
How can you tell whether a trash container is for regular or biohazardous waste?
The OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030) applies to those who may be exposed to infectious materials or bloodborne pathogens on the job. It proposes certain safeguards for protecting these workers, including using proper biohazard waste cans when disposing of biohazardous waste. The container must have a "BIOHAZARD" label to warn of its contents, in fluorescent orange or orange red, with letters and symbols in a contrasting color.
