EPA: Pulp Mill and Cardboard Company Settle Clean Water Act Violations
BOSTON – Two
companies operating under the control of Cascades USA, Inc. have agreed
to settle EPA allegations that they violated the federal Clean Water
Act. The companies are Cascades Auburn Fiber, operating in Auburn,
Maine; and Norampac New England, Inc., operating in Thompson, Conn.
Cascades Auburn Fiber has agreed to pay a fine
of $65,000 for alleged clean water violations at its Auburn, Maine pulp

EPA: Strategy to Reduce District’s Sewer Overflows Will Include Green Infrastructure
(PHILADELPHIA- May 20, 2015)
– The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the District of Columbia
(District) and DC Water today announced an agreement to modify a 2005
federal consent decree (CD) allowing DC Water to incorporate green
infrastructure in its long-term strategy for curtailing combined sewer
overflows (CSOs).

EPA: Hazardous Waste Generator Violations at GKN Armstrong Wheels, Iowa

(Lenexa,
Kan., May 13, 2015) - EPA Region 7 compliance evaluation inspections at
two GKN Armstrong Wheels, Inc., facilities in Iowa revealed violations
of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) related to the
storage and handling of hazardous waste at each facility. In a
settlement filed recently in Lenexa, Kan., the company agreed to pay a
$150,031 civil penalty to the United States.

EPA: Clean Harbors Fined for Violating RCRA
DALLAS – (May 12,
2015) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently issued a consent
agreement and final order to Clean Harbors Deer Park, LLC, in La Porte,
Texas. The company violated laws under the Resource Conservation and
Recovery Act (RCRA) related to the storage and handling of hazardous
waste. The company will pay a $22,400 civil penalty and is required to
take steps to protect the local community from health and environmental
risks associated with hazardous waste.
